About the event

The Writers Alliance of Gainesville presents Passion Dey Couldn’t Steal, a powerful one-woman theatrical performance by Pamela Marshall-Koons inspired by the life and legacy of Zora Neale Hurston. Through storytelling, movement, and music, Marshall-Koons brings to life the voice and spirit of Hurston, celebrated author of Their Eyes Were Watching God, exploring themes of truth, resilience, creativity, and self-definition in the face of racism and erasure.

Both tribute and testimony, this intimate performance invites audiences into Hurston’s world from Eatonville to Harlem, honoring the enduring power of voice, cultural memory, and spiritual strength.
